Day by day
- Day 1 Osh → Taldyk pass → Sary-Tash (~185 km).
- Day 2 Sary-Tash → Kyzyl-Art → Karakul → Ak-Baital → Murghab (~230 km).
- Day 3 Murghab → Alichur → Bulunkul / Yashilkul (~145 km).

The road
Paved from Osh to Sary-Tash, dirt around the Kyzyl-Art border, patchy high-altitude asphalt to Murghab and Alichur, gravel through the Wakhan, then the rough Khorog–Kalaikhum stretch and good road to Dushanbe.
Worth stopping
- Taldyk pass and the Alay valley.
- Karakul lake, the first night in Tajikistan if you like.
- Ak-Baital pass, 4,655 m.
- Wakhan: Langar, Vrang, Yamchun fortress.
- Khorog botanical garden and bazaar.
Good to know
- Going west means acclimatising fast: Sary-Tash is at about 3,200 m and Karakul at about 3,900 m on day 1–2. Take it slowly, drink a lot, and tell the driver if you feel unwell — he will drop lower.
- Arrive in Osh a day early: RideKG picks you up at Osh airport.
- You need the Tajik e-visa with the GBAO permit before Kyzyl-Art — it cannot be bought at the border.

Is altitude a problem?
Starting from Osh you climb faster than from Dushanbe. Most people are fine with a slow first day; we can add a night at Sary-Tash or Karakul.
